about us

field fare - what's the scoop? The company began 35 years ago in a barn in Kent, the Garden of England. Drawing on a career in the frozen food industry and horticulture, Richard Cryer pioneered a new way of selling food. The idea? It's simple, really. Loose frozen fruit and vegetables. Customers serve themselves and scoop as much or as little produce as they like. Maximum convenience, minimum packaging and prices. It caught on quickly and local farmers began to ask if they could offer the products in their own farm shops. Over the years, bakery, fish and ready meals were introduced and today the range can be found in farm shops, garden centres, food halls, butchers and delicatessens across the UK.
field fare is an independent family business committed to excellence in both its food products and its customer service.

Fresh Food

Charles Cryer

Chairman

Charles Cryer

I'm Charles and I'm field fare's Chairman. Still at school when my late father, Richard, started the company 35 years ago, I watched it grow from small beginnings in a barn in Kent, (where I used to help out in my summer holidays), into a business with customers nationwide. I am proud to continue my family's tradition of selling good quality frozen food. Married with two sons, I live and work in London.

Karen Deans

Managing Director

Karen Deans

I started working with Richard and Ann Cryer at field fare in 2001, becoming Managing Director in 2004, and have enjoyed every minute of it. It is fair to say that running field fare keeps me rather busy as do my two young sons. Over the past few years it has been rewarding to see the company and its product range grow, none of which could have occurred without the great team that I have around me. Luckily we all have the same philosophy - work hard but try to have fun in the process.

Kate Murphy

Marketing Manager

Kate Murphy

I'm the new girl in the field fare team having joined the company in December 2011. I am responsible for all marketing activities, working with our customers to help them drive sales, and supporting our team of regional account managers. I have over 20 years marketing experience in a variety of industries including publishing and training, but at field fare have returned to my interest in food, as I have a degree in food science.

Dave Rosser

Accounts Administrator

Dave Rosser

As Accounts Administrator I look after all things financial plus anything else that gets thrown my way during the course of a busy day. I've been with field fare since 2005. I have one teenage son who is a budding heavy metal drummer (hmmm thanks for that!). I myself am passionate about music and in my spare time can be found teaching/playing clarinet and saxophone.

Gina Garner

Office Manager

Gina Garner

I have been Office Manager at field fare since 2005. Having so many friendly customers is a real bonus for sales administration and customer service and being a country girl, who likes cooking and good food, I like the ethos of field fare products. I also love our office being on a working farm with animals, a fishing lake and beautiful bluebell woods. I have been married for 40 years, quite a feat, with a son in the USA.

Claire Gray

Sales and Marketing Administrator

Claire Gray

I've been the Sales and Marketing Administrator at field fare since 2005. I particularly enjoy contact with our customers across the United Kingdom, on a daily basis, most of whom I've got to know quite well over the years. I also design the newsletters and promotional literature and deal with daily sales administration along side Gina.

Paul Kilford

Southern Regional Account Manager

Paul Kilford

I am the Regional Account Manager for the South. Prior to working for field fare I had a long career in catering both here and overseas before moving into sales. I am a foodie at heart (see waistline!). I enjoy cooking along with the obligatory glass of wine of course - hic! To counteract this I also enjoy DIY and walking in the "Zummerzet" countryside where we have recently moved to!

John Burnett

Northern Regional Account Manager

John Burnett

I am the Northern Regional Account Manager. When I say Northern, I mean everything from Leicester to Aberdeen so I see a lot of beautiful country and meet many diverse people. The variety of our customers is what makes my job so interesting from dealing with a major Garden Centre group to an individual family where the husband runs the farm and his wife or children run the Farm Shop. I am married and my wife is an antiques valuer who you will see in the background of Flog It.

Colin Anthony

Midlands and East Anglia Regional Account Manager

Colin Anthony

I am the Regional Account Manager for the South East, East Anglia and the Midlands areas for field fare. I have been with the company since 2001 in a number of roles starting with administration, shop manager and for the last 10 years Regional Account Manager. I really enjoy this role as it brings different challenges to my work every day. If I had a nick name it would be The Chatty Man as I love to talk - something I am sure a great number of my customers would agree with!
