ABOUT US

Having always worked in the horticultural and frozen food industries, Richard Cryer pioneered the idea of selling loose frozen food to the public. In 1977, starting with only two freezers in a small barn, demand for the product soon exceeded all expectations. Shops were subsequently opened in various Garden Centres in Kent. Having seen the success of this concept several local farmers asked if they could retail the product in their own Farm Shops and so in 1984 we began supplying other businesses. In 2000 we launched our brand name field-fare and in 2004 we launched our own range of ready meals under the brand name field-fare kitchen. Today we wholesale to over 350 Farm Shops, Garden Centres, Food Halls, Butchers and Delicatessens throughout the United Kingdom.

At field-fare we pride ourselves on the consistent high quality and extensive range of our products, sourcing wherever possible from UK suppliers, including one of our customers! As a small independent business, we are not under any pressure to promote imported produce.

Giving something back .....

At field-fare we are aware that through our use of freight and cars we are effectively adding to the degeneration of the ozone layer so affecting climate change. As such we subscribe to Climate Care, which is a service that helps repair the damage our activities do to the climate. It does this by offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions, such as COfrom our business activities including; the haulage used to deliver our goods, the mileage covered by our sales team visiting customers and the energy used to heat our office, by reducing an equivalent amount of CO2 on our behalf. These reductions are made through a range of projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency, which not only fight climate change but bring benefits to communities around the world. You can offset emissions from flying, driving and household energy use. To find out more visit www.climatecare.org.CC logo-medium
